Tick season is coming - be careful

Experts are warning we’re heading into tick season – and those in the countryside should take care.

Werner Tischhauser, vice president of the Swiss League of People with Tick-Borne Diseases told the 20 Minutes newspaper that there has been a rise of tick bites and associated diseases over the last five years – and he’s clear that global warming is having an impact.

He says the Easter warm spell is bringing out the small arachnids – and they’re more widespread than ever before.

In the past, you wouldn’t find ticks above 1,500 meters. But that’s no longer the case say the experts, they’re now up to the tree line.
