US tourism from Switzerland slumps

Fewer people in Switzerland want to fly to the United States

The Swiss Travel Association says just 120,000 people made the trip in the first half of 2026, down 16.5% on the same period last year — and following a 10.6% drop already in 2025.

Arrivals for the full year could fall to 300,000, the lowest figure in two decades outside the pandemic.

Prices are not the reason: SWISS has been cutting transatlantic fares since 2025.

Industry officials point instead to what they call "the Trump slump", plus reports of Swiss tourists being detained on arrival at US airports.
