Roads safer in Geneva

Road safety is improving in Geneva, with fewer accidents and fatalities recorded last year.

Police say 2,631 road accidents were reported in 2025, down by more than one hundred compared to the previous year, while the number of deaths fell to nine.

But authorities warn vulnerable road users remain at risk. All fatalities involved pedestrians, cyclists, or motorcyclists, with dozens of incidents also recorded at pedestrian crossings.

Human error continues to be the main cause, accounting for around 90 percent of accidents, including speeding, inattention, and failure to respect right of way.
