Cashless payments are still the most popular way to pay in Switzerland, but cash isn’t going anywhere.
A new survey by the Swiss National Bank shows debit cards remain the most commonly used method, followed by cash and payment apps.
Despite the rise of digital payments, most people say they still want to keep using cash, especially for smaller purchases.
The study also finds younger people and higher earners are less likely to pay with cash, while mobile apps are mainly used for online shopping.
Only a small minority, around two percent, support scrapping cash altogether.
