The man who was shot dead by Zurich police on Wednesday was an anti-vaccine conspiracy theorist who had recently kidnapped a well-known government health official.

The name of the kidnapped victim can’t be revealed due to a court order. It’s thought he was held for several hours on March 31st.

The dead man was being hunted by police. He was cornered in Wallisellen. Police opened fire when he shot dead a female companion.

Press reports suggest another man, a 34-year-old, has also been arrested in connection with the case. He’s said to be another vaccine conspiracy theorist.

Police figures show during the pandemic, threats against public figures have increased massively.
