Man fined for sticky tape trick

A man thought he had a perfect way of getting out of paying for an autoroute vignette for his cars. But he was caught and now faces a large fine.

The 47-year-old had attached the sticker to the car with sticky tape which meant it could be removed and used on different vehicles – which is illegal.

The incorrect vignette was spotted at a border crossing in canton Sankt Gallen in March.

He will have to pay CHF 700 in fines and costs and the court added a suspended fine of CHF 1,200 if he tries to do it again.

And he has to buy a new vignette.
