Switzerland wants to spend more money on the army – and it’s international aid that will take the hit.
Parliament will cut CHF 250m of aid to international organisations and economic cooperation projects.
There was broad agreement to the cuts, as some said the safety of the population should come first and others pointed out international aid had increased faster than other federal programmes.
Ther were efforts from the Socialists and Greens to prevent the cuts – but they failed to get the votes.
