Health staff agreement between Geneva and France

Geneva University Hospital

Geneva health authorities have signed an agreement with their French counterparts to make sure that they don’t poach staff from France.

But the Geneva University Hosital says it hasn’t actively campaigned to find staff from France for many years.

Even so, around 80% of nursing staff working in Switzerland live in neighbouring France – and the numbers have been climbing for the last 10 years.

Both sides agree more staff need to be trained on both sides of the border. Cantons Geneva and Valais have set up new training facilities for that purpose.
