The Federal Council is considering banning the use of social media for under 16s and bringing in strict regulations limiting smart phone use in schools.
Recently Australia brought in an under 16 ban and other countries have limited phone use in schools.
Anecdotal evidence suggests the results of phone banning is positive.
The government says it’s ready to examine the situation more closely.
A survey from the end of last year suggest limits on phone and social media use would be popular with 83% saying they’d support such measures.
