AI changes employment for young people

Switzerland's young apprenticeship graduates are stuck in an AI paradox: employers reject them for lack of experience, while artificial intelligence has automated the entry-level tasks that once built that experience

The share still job-hunting four months after qualifying has climbed from 5.6% to 9.6% in two years, says the Swiss Society of Commercial Employees.

Nearly two in three graduates say they are refused for lack of experience.

The commercial apprenticeship, long Switzerland's most popular vocational training, is losing its reputation as a reliable path into work.
