From the next academic year Canton Geneva will largely finance immersion language courses for middle school students.
Scholarships worth nearly CHF 9,000 will be available for trips to Ireland, Zurich and Lucerne. Parents will have to contribute at least CHF 2,300.
The canton acted as the cost of language trips could range between CHF 16,000 and CHF 30,000 – so the option was only for more wealthy families.
