Geneva to give CHF 5m to ICRC

ICRC

Canton Geneva is to send five million francs to the International Committee of the Red Cross to aid its humanitarian efforts in Ukraine.

The canton is also examining a system to make sure the government can react quicky to the needs of the refugees now arriving.

Around 50 Ukrainian children have started school in the canton. Teachers are beginning to grapple with the language issue, but the aim is to integrate them as soon as possible.

There are also concerns about finding the adults work and the effect of the rising costs of fuel and food will have on the new arrivals.
