Geneva is officially bidding to host next year’s Eurovision Song Contest.
Switzerland will have the Eurovision next year after singer Nemo won the competition this year.
Although Geneva said right from the start it would like to have the show next year, it has now put in an application – together with Zurich, Biel and Bern.
The application has the backing from the City and the Canton. A joint press release says Geneva has the hotel capacity, the venue, the airport and the trains.
If successful the event will be at the Palexpo.
Politicians are backing their bid with cash, they’re promising CHF 30m for organizing the event.
If successful, it’s expected that would be a wise investment as it would bring more to the area.
