Rents in Geneva have risen 5.3% over the past year, putting the canton well above the national average of 2.5%, according to the property platform Homegate.
The June index climbed another 0.2% month-on-month, with Zurich also above trend at 3.3% and Bern lagging at 1.5%.
In central areas of the country, canton Schwyz set a new all-time high, with a monthly jump of 2.3%. The two Nidwald cantons and Graubünden have posted the sharpest year-on-year increases, at 8.3% and 6.7%.
Commentators say the squeeze on rents is due to high demand and low supply.
