Crans-Montana looks to summer season after fire tragedy

Crans-Montana

Crans-Montana is hoping for a broadly stable summer, more than six months after the New Year fire at the Constellation bar.

Bookings are holding, though tourism director Bruno Huggler says the strong franc, Middle East tensions and consumer caution all weigh on the market.

The Valais resort had frozen its promotion after the tragedy and has since rebuilt its message around landscapes.

Fresh signs of confidence are also emerging, with one hotel reopening at five-star level and another four-star venue due shortly.

Meanwhile, prosecutors resume questioning suspects in Sion this week.
