A former mayor of the commune of Signy-Avenex in canton Vaud has been sentenced to four and a half years in jail after being found guilty of embezzlement.
The man also acted as a trustee for several local charities and vulnerable individuals. Judges determined he stole CHF 13m over 10 years.
The presiding judge said the man seriously harmed the interests of his clients and gambled with their money.
