Don't get burned by firewood scams

Police are warning about firewood scams.

Worries about the price of oil and electricity is driving demand for firewood as many dust-off and clear out their unused fireplaces and word burners – driving strong demand for firewood.

More and more classified adverts are appearing offering wood at seemingly bargain prices.

The victims pay through the website, but then no wood is delivered.

Police say you should be suspicious if the price seems too good to be true and if the company wants payment sent to outside Switzerland.

The advice is that it’s better to collect the wood in person and pay on the spot.
