The latest Covid figures have been released by the Federal Health Office.
The headline rate of new infections is down 18% on the week – at just over 30,000. And the number of hospitalizations is also down 14%.
But the percentage of intensive care beds occupied by Covid cases remains roughly the same at around 9%. But around a quarter of beds remain available.
But the number of deaths is up. Last week 21 died with covid – the week before it was 9.
The government has made clear the main figure it looks at before deciding if further measures are needed is hospital capacity – and there’s around 20 to 25% spare capacity at the moment. Although cantons Schaffhausen and Nidwalden are at capacity.
