Court agrees woman was discriminated against

Federal Court, Lausanne.

A woman who applied for a job as a gamekeeper in canton Fribourg six times only to be rejected 6 times has won a case at the Federal Court that she’s been discriminated against due to her gender.

She applied the first time in 2011 – when she was told that there would never be any female wardens. She kept applying anyway.

She’s since held a seat on the canton‘s hunting commission. During that time, she says there were sexist comments aimed at her.

Federal judges have ruled a lower court’s decision that she hasn’t been discriminated against was arbitrary and ordered the case to be re-examined.
