Canton Nidwalden will bring in a ban of mobile phones in Schools.

While there have been some bans by communes and individual schools – the Nidwalden ban will be the first brought in by a whole canton. It will come into force at the start of the next school year.

It seems to be welcomed by the kids – speaking to the Blick newspaper, many say it’s a good thing as they’ll be talking to their own friends.

The Cantonal Education Director, Res Schmid, says the ban is needed as phones are leading to distractions in class and behaviour problems.
