Groundbreaking begins today on the Geneva section of the Tram des Nations.
The project, linking the Nations square to the Ferney-Voltaire customs office, will take more than three years.
Preparatory work in France starts before the end of the year, with major construction beginning in early 2027.
The cross-border tram line is due to open in December 2028.
The Department of Mobility says access to neighborhoods, homes, shops, and businesses will be maintained, but road traffic will be diverted via the Route and Tunnel des Nations.
