A team working at the EPFL in Lausanne and at the Vaud University Hospital say they’ve discovered an antibody which neutralizes all currently known Covid mutations.
If it proves to be successful in humans it could be used by those who have weak autoimmune systems and to treat those with a severe infection.
The researchers say the antibody locks onto a spike on the virus which is not prone to mutation and so stops it multiplying.
Clinical studies are now being planned for the end of year and there are already talks with a company to take on development and production.
