Vaud police closed several villages to traffic in the Chablais region over the weekend in an effort to stem those drivers trying to skip jams on the A9 heading from the slopes.
But the communes become paralyzed with jams, infuriating locals.
Police say they will continue the operation for the rest of the season. The villages will be closed to non-local traffic between 3 and 8pm every weekend.
