Teen dies trying to break into shop

A teenage boy has died after being trapped in a sliding shop door in Vevey in canton Vaud.

It’s thought the 16-year-old was trying to break in while the shop was closed. He was caught by the neck by the door. 

Despite resuscitation attempts be died at the scene. He was found at 4am on Saturday. 

Police say he did manage to open the door enough to get his head through, it then closed on him again. 

An investigation is underway – but police say they believe it was an accident.
