First new AVS payment due

Swiss pensioners will receive their first 13th AVS payment in December, averaging around CHF 1,580

he Federal Office for Social Insurance says the amount varies sharply by circumstance.

In 2025, 2.6 million people drew a monthly pension averaging CHF 1,576.-. Pensions paid abroad average just CHF 702.-, against CHF 1,969.- for those living in Switzerland.

Married couples where both partners draw a pension are capped at 150% of the maximum rate, leaving many at between CHF 1,500.- and CHF 2,000.

The payment equals one-twelfth of this year's pension, pro-rated for anyone who retired in 2026.
