Your web surfing will now help to heat homes. A new project with Infomaniak will use the excess heat from their servers to warm nearby homes.
In a project with the utility firm SIG, the heat will be captured by a heat-pump and transferred to some homes around Lancy.
It should be up and running in a couple of years. If successful, there are hopes will it be extended to include other server farms.
