Most people who die due to accidents in the mountains are foreigners.
Last year 114 lost their lives – two thirds of those were non-Swiss.
The figures, from the Swiss Alpine Club, do not include extreme sports – such as paragliding and wing suits.
More men than women died, and most deaths were from hiking.
The number is down a bit on previous years, but the club says that’s down to fewer people being in the mountains due to a lack of snow.
