Geneva is running out of emergency beds for the homeless as more families with children are ending up on the streets.
Shelters which specialize in looking after families says they’re having to turn down families each night as they’re full.
One of the directors says that doesn’t include those too afraid to ask for help as they may be worried about their immigration status.
The city is offering more cash to the shelters to open up more spaces.
The situation is especially tense this winter due to several successive crises, according to Christina Kitsos from the city’s social care department.
She points out that there was covid and now rising prices are pushing those in a precarious situation over the edge.
