The Federal Office of Public Health said yesterday that some 362 people who had been fully vaccinated have still contracted the virus, adding that this figure is likely to be higher as not all infections are registered.
Eighty-six of these cases have led to people ending up in hospital.
Of the 1,100 people who have lost their lives due to Covid-19 in Switzerland this year, 18 of those had had 2 doses of the vaccine.
Currently, around 4.8 million people in Switzerland have been fully vaccinated out of a total population of 8.6 million.
Both Moderna and Pfizer vaccines are believed to offer around 88% protection against the Delta variant, which is currently responsible for 96.7% of new infections.
