Geneva police sealed off parts of Carouge for three hours yesterday believing an armed man was barricaded in his apartment – but it turned out he had fled before and was with his mother in Jonction.
The alarm was raised by his wife who said he threatened her with a gun and had been taking cocaine all day.
Roads around the rue de Lancy were sealed off as police tried to make contact with the man. But he was at his mother’s the whole time. He was later arrested there.
Police say there were no injuries and no gun was found.
