Tragedy struck in canton Graubünden on Tuesday after a homemade igloo collapsed, killing a 7-year-old boy.

The boy and his father had spent days building the igloo together. It had become quite large with a diameter of four metres.

The father and son were sitting in it together when the roof fell in. The father managed to dig himself out and then searched for his son.

It took 15 minutes to find him - but he was unconscious. He was helicoptered to the Graubünden Cantonal Hospital – but he died without regaining consciousness.

Prosecutors have launched an investigation. The family is receiving psychological support.
