Plans to bring in free public transport for the under 25s and reduced rates for pensioners will likely go ahead – despite legal action from some against the plans.
Those opposed to the move believe it’s discriminatory and unfair. They tried to persuade the courts to suspend the plans until a full case can be heard.
Judges refused, so the new fares will come into effect from January.
The two members of the Liberal party who are members of the Cantonal Grand Council bringing the case, acknowledge the ruling bodes badly for their cause.
