It seems very likely Geneva voters will have the final say on whether burkinis will be allowed in the city’s swimming pools after a council vote last night.
A burkini is a full-length swimming outfit often worn by Muslim women. Current rules forbid them.
The council voted to allows them, but the right-wing Swiss People’s Party says it will force a referendum in an effort to reverse the decision.
It now has 40 days to collect 3,200 signatures.
