Bern considers US defence contracts

Switzerland could reconsider a key defence purchase amid growing uncertainty.

Defence Minister Martin Pfister says abandoning the Patriot air defence system remains an option, after delivery delays linked to U.S. support for Ukraine.

The Federal Department of Defence has already suspended payments until Washington confirms new timelines.

Officials warn that if delays persist, not only the Patriot deal but other U.S. arms purchases could be scaled back or cancelled.
