Basel is fighting the spread of the Asian tiger mosquito by issuing larvicide.
Data showed the pest spread widely last summer, and authorities are hoping to curb it this year.
The mosquito is capable of carrying certain tropical diseases, such as dengue and zika.
Residents in canton Basel-City can pick up the larvicide and various points. There are also other simple ways people can reduce the spread.
Authorities say make sure any standing water is disposed of as the eggs survive the winter and then hatch in the spring.
