In Switzerland, 1 in 10 people have given up on sunscreen, according to a recent survey. Many say they don’t like the products on their skin.
In other countries the number is much higher. In Germany and France, nearly 20% say they don’t use sunscreen.
Though the numbers are similar, the discrepancies are the reasons why: The French say they’re saving money as sunscreen is too expensive, Italians want to tan faster, Germans find applying sunscreen too much effort, and Austrians have health concerns about the product itself.
The results have been published by the market research institute Yougov for Galaxus.
The survey also highlighted that, for the majority who are still sensibly wearing sunscreen, the most popular strength is SPF 30 - 50.
5% of Swiss adults surveyed said they’ve never been sunburnt.
