But the Vaud Federation of Entrepreneurs is warning of scams.
There have been a few cases of workmen appearing at front doors, offering to repaint or repair.
But the workers are normally unregistered and will do shoddy work and charge a fortune. One elderly man paid more than CHF 32,000 for a simple repainting.
The federation says there have already been several reporting of attempted scams – mainly from northern Vaud.
The police say you should only accept work from those who have already made an appointment with.
