The police are warning about a possible telephone scam – but are unsure what’s it’s supposed to achieve.
If you get a mysterious phone call from the Netherlands – don’t answer it.
The phenomenon started in Germany, but there have been some instances here. If you answer the call, there’s nothing but silence.
It could be a scam hoping the recipient will return the call – and incur massive costs.
Several police forces say if you don’t recognise the Dutch number - don’t answer it – and certainly don’t call it back.
