For the first time in Geneva Airport's history, more passengers are flying to and from China than to and from the United States
In July, 25,900 travelled to or from China against 23,100 to or from the US; in August the gap widened to 29,300 versus 25,300.
This time last year, US traffic was double the Chinese figure — an airport spokesperson calls the shift "spectacular".
The reversal follows a summer push by Chinese tour operators to revive Swiss tourism, and steadily rising direct connections between Geneva and mainland China.
