Violent storms over much of the country caused flooding and trapped cars in hail last night.
The major areas hit were Basel, Zurich, and the Bernese Jura.
The train station at Zurich airport had to be closed after water entered the tunnels. There could be some delays this morning as engineers assess the damage.
In canton Bern, there were over 700 calls to the police between 6.30 and 9 last night. Most involved flooding and several local roads had to be closed as rivers broke their banks.
One fireman swam in a flooded underpass in Herzogenbuchsee in canton Bern to make sure there were no drivers left in trapped cars.
