Thousands are signing a petition to urge the United Nations to allow the evacuation of local staff in Afghanistan and not just international workers.
UN unions say staff should not be treated differently.
Nearly two thirds of the UN’s 3,000 workers in Afghanistan are local employees and there are fears they’re in danger after the Taliban take-over. Especially those who have been working with women’s groups.
The UN is currently urging local workers to shelter at home.

But staff unions say the difference of treatment between the two types of workers is unacceptable.
