Vaud police have been questioning a British driver after he was flashed twice on the A1 autoroute at highly excessive speed before crashing on the A9 near Montreux last week.
The UK registered car was caught travelling at 200 kph at Coppet, where the limit is 120 and then again at Crissier at 176, where the limit is 100.
He then crashed on the A9 – no other car was involved – and drove into Montreux and abandoned the vehicle. It was later found by police and towed.
The next day the driver reported the car missing, he was then arrested.
A criminal investigation is underway.
