The tourist industry will need help for many years to come to counter the effects of the pandemic.
The call is from the Council of States member for Nidwalden, Hans Wicki, and National Councillor Nicolo Paganini – who’s also president of the Swiss Tourism Association.
They say the industry needs CHF 3bn over the next 10 years to renovate railways, hotels and promote sustainability.
They say the government has already spent money to keep tourism companies alive – if help doesn’t come now, then it would all be for nothing.
