In the years since the end of the Cold War, many Swiss army bunkers have been decommissioned, sold and repurposed. Some have become museums, hotels, or even IT server space.
The decision to keep hold of all remaining bunkers has been taken to allow better decentralisation of the army and is a response to the war in Ukraine - says its chief Thomas Suessli.
He says that even some of the previously decommissioned bunkers can still be of military use again.
