There was traffic chaos at the Gotthard Tunnel after heavy snowfall yesterday.
Drivers report being stuck for hours on the A2 at the north entrance, with one telling the 20 minutes newspaper that they’ve waited more than two hours.
Police in canton Uri say multiple vehicles- including trucks - lost control on fresh snow near the pass.
They say many cars were on summer tyres.
The situation worsened by stranded 40-ton trucks, preventing snowplows from getting through.
Even passengers on a stuck coach got out to try to push the vehicle free.
