Tesla sales are plummeting in Switzerland – as well as Europe – but is it all down to an anti-Musk feeling?
An analysis by today’s Tribune de Genève points out that Telsa sales in Switzerland were half this quarter than were expected last year.
But the paper points out a significant factor is growing competition from other car makers and their electric offerings.
Sales of electric cars as a whole are actually up on the year, by 4%. Now 20% of new car sales are electric, with the new Renault 5 powering ahead.
The new model has appeared almost out of nowhere to become the second biggest electric seller in Switzerland.
Meanwhile, the Chinese firm BYD, the largest electric car maker in the world, has unveiled a new charging system which is as fast as refilling a petrol car.
Competition for Tesla is growing, which may also at least partly explain the company’s stock price collapse.
