Using a tax amnesty that’s been in place since 2010, a doctoral student at the University of Sankt Gallen gathered the numbers from all the cantons.
Only 3% of tax payers came forward with previously hidden assets, CHF 66bn in total – but it showed on average they are hiding a third of their wealth from authorities.
