Sport doping drugs seized

Drugs designed to enhance sporting performance have been seized at Geneva Airport.

The package was posted from Turkey - the drugs were hidden in household paper products.

Officials say the drugs were anabolic steroids and other substances which could be used to mask detection.

They’ve been handed to the anti-doping agency, Swiss Sport Integrity. The agency says the quantity was small so it likely it was designed for personal use and not reselling – its not part of a trafficking operation, they say.

But the find is part of a constant increase in seizures. In 2019 there were 649 cases and in 2023 that had risen to over a thousand.
