Switzerland's dream continues

Switzerland has a new hero – 22 year old, Riola Xhemaili.

In the dying moments of last night’s match against Finland, Xhemaili blasted in an equalizer that sees Switzerland through to the quarter finals of the Euro 2025 Championships.

Much of the game at the Stade de Genève was goalless - and Switzerland only needed a draw to go through. But a penalty in the 79th minute seemed to end the Swiss dream, putting Finland ahead.

But Xhemaili – who had spent most of the game on the bench, only brought on in the 82nd minute - stepped up nearly 2 minutes into extra time and converted a superb cross from Geraldine Reuteler and provided the goal so desperately needed.

But how long will the dream last? It sees likely the next team will be Spain. So, dream while it lasts.

In the other game last night – Norway beat Iceland 4-3 in Thun.

There are two matches tonight - both at 9pm. Portugal meet Belgium in Sion and Italy face Spain in Bern.
