The speed limit on the A1 autoroute between Geneva and Lausanne may only briefly reach the maximum of 120.
The Federal Roads Office says over the next few years an automated system will be put in place that will monitor the amount of traffic and will cut the limit in an effort to keep traffic flowing.
The limit could often be at 100 or even 80.
The system will spread all along the A1 until Zurich.
